Hey Blind folks, Was wondering if you're put on PIP and then get terminated do you still get some kind of pay for a while? What are usual steps in terms of getting a new job? Do you tell your next employer? Does it show in the record somewhere? Or do I just apply pretending like nothing happened? In extreme case of gap to find job once terminated anyone knows how that looks for the HR?
Companies generally don’t pay when they fire you. That is what unemployment is for.
Can someone get unemployment? What about severance? Do you know how does that compare to regular pay?
If you take the severance - should you agree after your months pay check - then you get more? Or is that months pay inclusive?
Are you on pip?

If you vote for Biden this year, don't complain about layoffs
You don’t get paid out typically unless you’re a planned lay-off versus a performance firing. As for what you have to say, no - companies don’t say you got fired. On a background check they will simply confirm your dates of employment. Just mention that you moved on to new challenges if anyone asks
Thanks, so if the process started might as well start looking. Any advice on if it takes N month to find a new gig and there is a X month gap for example?
Definitely start looking, and in tech it’s not uncommon to take time off in between gigs to “recharge” whether it’s a choice to leave your company or not.
