I got my first PIP, ever. I had been performing poorly for 5 months, but without much notice from management. I'm expecting to be let go no matter what improvement I make. Can someone help me understand what my options are at this time with PIPs at Adobe. What are the timelines? Do folks survive a PIP here? I haven't signed anything but I did agree to make improvements. Any help would be amazing!
Wait. Adobe has PIP? Which org? Is it US or non-US office?
For real? Never heard of it
File a discrimination case with EEOC to buy some time at Adobe and start job hunting asap. They won't fire you during the discrimination case (which takes average of 11-12 months to investigate) since it will be considered retaliation
This is a brilliant unethical life hack that I highly endorse.
Thanks @2legit2sit for the answer. There is a case of partial treatment in my department where I taken their feedback and made improvements, but it doesn't seem to matter. One thing that pisses me off is that they aren't even giving any tangible feedback to improve. There is no discrimination in my case, but unfair performance judgment since they judge based on what my peers say.
Which org?
Are you in creative cloud ?
I'm part of the DME org at Adobe. Don't want to go more specific than that.
DX here. I've seen many from my colleagues and they're all gone. Perhaps time to look for an external opportunity.
Option 1 - Play the game: Go for six months on the FMA protected medical leave. (Pre-req: See a phycologist to get the doctors note quoting a severe job related stress or anxiety) Option 2 - Be nice: Ask your mgmt to give you 1-2 months to transition out of the company without any PiP or fight. Option 3 - Leave now: Submit your resignation now. PiP will likely bruise you up good for life, and destroy any confidence left in you. PS: Involving attorney will undoubtedly release all legal and HR onto you, documenting every email, every checkin, asking for proof to your claims etc, it’s a horrible advice. Don’t do it.
Is it wise to take the FMA in corona times? How easy is it to get a note from a psychologist? I had a major feature bomb on production and have a feeling I might get fired. I’m in the DX org. I did get promoted this year though so not sure if they’ll put me on PIP first and then fire me or just directly do that. Will start interviewing in July as still under a lot of pressure to fix all the bugs and have to send out patches almost every other day.
Does DX pip a lot?
Well I simply told HR my boss molested me so....

Just move to another company and save yourself from the carrot and stick game called PIP
Agreed. I think that's the only viable way out of here.
