I have been trying to get into PM role at microsoft and have been referred for the position by Microsoft employee. Even after consistent efforts (e.g. Referrals, online application, reaching out to recruiters) I am unable to get a single interview call from them. What else can I do to make sure I make though the Pm role at microsoft ?
Thanks for the input
One more piece of advice; while persistence can be a good thing, if you are overly aggressive, or are constantly blitzing the recruiter or hiring manager, you are unlikely to get the job. Give them at least a few days to respond. If they do not respond after say 3 emails, take that as your hint that they are not interested. If you get too aggressive, it'll likely go into the record they have for you, which decreases your chances of landing a job there in the future.
So I m not buzzing them now and them .. I apply online or reach out to recruiters whom I meet through some events
Get your first pm experience in a different company. Consultancy is a great way to start.
Most of my friends who started though some consultancy at msft couldn't get FTE roles
If you aren't getting any attention with referrals, consider two things. 1) Your resume probably could use some work. Seek out feedback, and see how you can improve it. Same goes for your LinkedIn profile. 2) You may not be qualified for the position. If your resume does not reflect the requirements for the position, recruiters are likely to pass you by for other candidates who appear more qualified. The recommendation I recently received was to try and contact the hiring manager directly. That may be your best bet. But make sure you cover the points I mentioned, before contacting the hiring manager.
