Which tech companies (apart from Amazon) provide a clear path to General Management and P&L ownership from Product Management at Director level?
Many apps dont have a P&L in microsoft, google, Facebook, etc so don't get attached to P&L concept.
Wait how does it work then? I mean the buck has to stop somewhere, right?
Example: Microsoft Word. That's an app but user pays for entire Office suite. There are separate commerce/acquisition/retention teams managing subscription level P&L but app team mainly cares about engagement with their app.
You can land Director level role and own a P&L in F500 world. It will take a lot longer to achieve that title and scope in a big tech company. Even when you hit that title in F500, you might get downleveled (at top end comp for that final level) if you don't meet big tech's YOE expectations
