I've been a full stack PM from front end to back my entire career (spanning startups and FANG like companies; YOE 9) starting to wonder the pros and cons of each specialized track of PM. I've heard that growth PM track isn't as valued and has less of a career leverage in the PM world, and some other opinions on other tracks. Can anyone lend some insights on which one to pursue for future career advancements and why?
I didn’t know there were tracks either.
There r. Say if ur looking for a new PM job, there usually r different tracks that the company is looking for: growth, mobile, retention, customer facing stuff, backend stuff, internal stuff etc
I thought Product Managers managed Products...
They do but depending on the scale of the product and org, PMs usually start focusing on certain tracks and experiences
Don’t get too narrowly focused in one niche, go for breath, go for impact.
I honestly have never heard of that (and I’m PM in Silicon Valley). But I agree with what others have said— not sure if this is something you should focus on. Go for breath and impact.
I didn't know there were "tracks". I don't think this is something you should focus on.
