Save yourself the trouble with a scoop from an insider: The tech is a catastrophically broken legacy mess. You will have to maintain crap from the 80s. Management plays mind game to lowball your TC and nepotism is rampant (but this is probably everywhere, just blatant here at Bloomberg) The culture is incredibly toxic. Think Amazon. The job ads will mislead you, the recruiters will lie to you. Don't bother. You will be hired in to maintain their legacy crap and treated like a slave. If you have an offer, run. If you think about interviewing, save yourself the trouble. If your OPT is running out and desperately need a job, welcome to Bloomberg!

Hmm weird. I know a few BB engineers who quite enjoy it. Very friendly environment relative to other firms when I interviewed there as well.

I worked at 731 Lex and built a full Bb terminal command and I can fully attest to what the OP is saying. Thankfully I am.away from that fish pond.

Yeah I’m having a great time here. It’s not hard to find smart people and impactful projects. Some teams do suck quite a bit though, so I don’t doubt OP’s experience.

None of this is true of my experience at Bloomberg, and I'm quite enjoying my work. Make sure you know what team you're joining before you sign the senior eng offer. I had competing offers and was careful to find out about my day to day at each firm before signing, and negotiate a team that fit my interests and tech stack preferences. Unlike Amazon, Bloomberg has no forced attrition policy and WLB is vastly different. You seem to have no concept of Amazon's culture
