Stock at all time high so I decided to pay off the house. Man it feels great! I'll take the monthly mortgage payment and invest it into my taxable account while still fully funding the tax sheltered 401k etc.. Or should I buy another house to rent out in the Seattle area
You could always “do” both. Stick that mortgage payment in a taxable brokerage account and then buy the next one in cash, then use the cash flow from the rental + the invested mortgage payment to really ramp things up. Congrats, OP. Hoping to do the same in about 6.5 years
Good times are here to stay!

There’s no reason to pay off the mortgage when there’s both a tax and financial incentive not to.
Agreed
Yeah after tax deductions, at current 30 years rate mortgage interest is more like 1-2%. There’s almost never any reason to pay it off early.
I hope you do know that you still need to pay insurance and tax. Your mortgage will never be zero. But congrats
The mortgage is separate from tax and insurance.
You know what I meant
Congratulations!
Welcome to the other side of the table ;)

What was the interest rate? You’d probably be better off keeping the debt at a low rate and investing that money instead.
This 💯.. such a 🤡 OP!
Yeah this. Paying off your house is such a chump move.
