Palantir

Hello, Wanted to get opinions from people in Palantir. How’s the company’s culture? Is it a good time to join now? How are the infrastructure teams?

It’s been “so hot” for years and no real movement. The people I’ve met and interviewed with (a few years ago) were stuck up as hell. They have moved on and did not level up as you would expect naturally overtime.

I would second that. The people I’ve met from Palantir were stuck up as hell. They thought they were god’s gift to software.

Well the best time to join was 2012. The next best time would probably be 2019/2020 😉

You’re gonna be underpaid, I guarantee it. I almost tripled my TC moving to FB, and I was a product SWE at palantir. Lots of smart people working there though and the small size means you can have a larger impact. On the product/infra side probably the cleanest code I’ve worked with.

When and how long did you work for palantir?

I really like all my interviewers. People seemed very engaged and excited about the company/work compared to my Amazon interviewers, as well as a bit smarter. With negotiation and being early in my career, my comp is similar or better than it would have been at Amazon (although tough to compare private vs public and Seattle vs nyc). The perks are also great and I find the work rewarding. The press doesn’t tend to mention it, but we help a lot of institutions do very important and valuable work.
