How is it like working at Palo Alto Networks? Been reading Glassdoor/Quora. Be great to hear from people who are working there too. Thanks!
If all of below is what you meant by tech culture, then yes I guess. - toxic work culture, OPS, QA, DEV hate each other - constant production outage, and I meant CONSTANT - titles are joke, a lot of BS principle eng - sub par engineers, you get QA, architects who don’t even know how to code/git I understand this varies dramatically from team to team. So good luck I guess
Sounds about the same here at Q
Dev culture has been good in my team but company has had growing pains. We definitely have some very smart engineers and I've learned a lot from them but the interview process isn't standardized so quality varies team by team. I have heard rumors management in some areas is getting toxic but employees are still protected from it. In summary I guess your experience depends on your team. My team is pretty good.
Hey Palo guy!
Read glass door. Interesting reviews
Very tech-y and security focused. Money is good. I left a FAANG to come here, they put me in the salary payband that is above what I was at when I was at that FAANG. It would've taken me another 2-3 years if I stayed there to reach my current TC now at Palo Alto Networks. They also beat out negotiations for my other offers when I was leaving my previous company, including a different FAANG offer. There are microkitchens, but lunch is not free. You'd have fun here if you're interested in cybersecurity, I consider myself a hacker type. I work on a stateful firewall now and am having the time of my life :) I've bumped into a few members of the unit 42 threat intelligence team, a team of PAN security researchers that have caught a few international hacking groups 1 YOE, 255k TC
Taking about TC. I had 8 offers including Facebook Amazon, uber and some big name startups. PANW beat all of them (and my last job TC obviously) And my team sucks so bad that I’d rather take a pay cut not joining here. So there’s that, tread lightly I guess.
What’s your TC? And title ?
Given my posts here I’d rather not giving out my title. TC is 380k, 5YOE
I’ve been here for more than 5 years. I’ve seen the company grow. We are now so big we are turning into the next Cisco or juniper. Mgmt cronyism at its finest. If I were you - stay with FAANG
Great place to work for my experience. Been there <6mths. Lots of support from coworkers and managers and a wealth of cool products to learn. Rate of change from lots of acquisitions keeps the pace up. For anyone wanting to get into infosec it'd be a great place to start. Lots of encouragement to get cert'd and time off for study. About to open a new building on campus and they seem to be still hiring like crazy people. Go for it !
I'm going to agree with the other sad posts here. PANW has terrible retention so they are desperate thesedays and give people high offers. This true for myself and everyone who joined here in the past year in my org. Everyone joined because the money was a big jump from their current comp or offers. But now almost everyone has left or is in the process of leaving. General consensus is that the money wasn't worth the headache that is this management
Which group you are in? Prisma or Cortex?
Cortex
It really depends on who’s your manager. That’s all
Family member worked there, said it was a great environment. Very "tech" based culture.
