So, today I found out that I did well on my interviews at Google, but they have finished hiring the headcount for this year for New grad. I went to a no name uni (too poor for anything) and I thought the only chance I had to work at a big company was to work hard. So, I did 550 LC and got 4.0 gpa. How unlucky can one person be? I am on opt and have 2 more months to find a job. Google was the only company that gave me chance to interview too. Can anyone at least give me referrals to any decent company (Twitter, Microsoft, Airbnb, Facebook, Stripe, Splunk, Lyft, DROPBOX, Salesforce, Apple, etc)?
You didn't read the lost properly. I went to such a small university that no one even looks my profile, let alone give me an interview.
How can a guy sitting in Iowa tell his ideas to startup founders? The only person who come here is unironically Bernie Sanders for campaigns.
why did you write DROPBOX in all caps? you can pm me for fb
I really like dropbox because I thinΔ· its exotic! Also dm'ed
Lol, what makes DROPBOX exotic?
What degree do you have?
Bachelor of Science, CS
DM me if you are interested in Amazon.
Does Airbnb, Lyft, Dropbox even have openings for new grad? I thought theyβre filled as well?
You are going to make me cry :(
Well the same thing happened to me for Google. I passed HC for new grad and recruiter said the same thing a couple of weeks ago.
DM for Amazon
dm'ed thanks
How does this make sense. Shouldn't there be a new headcount for 2020. No way it filled up already
Hiring is over there for today. I confirmed with the recruiter. She said Google will give me preference when the applications open again. But I will be deported by then.
That really sucks. But don't give up! Now you know you can pass a Google interview, which means you can pass any big tech interview. Now you just need to focus on getting more interviews, and you don't have to worry so much about passing them
But the hardest part has always been getting interviews for me. I went to no name uni in Iowa because of lack of money. Not 1 company other than Google gave me a chance to interview.
Yeah, getting new grad interviews is hard. I hope things work out for you!
Keep applying & interviewing. Failure is apart of the process.
I have applied to around 200 to 300 companies. Only google gave me interview which I passed.
Maybe it's your resume if you applied to that many. Did you do a no-no where you just did a resume spray? Why don't you have folks here evaluate your resume
Perhaps your recruiter can try to match with other teams who are hiring for a similar skillset. I heard they do it. Be nice to your recruiter while requesting for it.
No she said I will get preference when the applications open again, but right now they are done hiring.
