Hey guys I am in talks with a recruiter hiring for Software Engineer 2 in San Jose. However I live and am from Austin and I would much prefer to stay here in Texas. How is the remote work policy at PayPal at the moment? Working in office is outdated and not necessary anymore in my opinion so I’d like to avoid this. #PayPal #wfh
They don’t have fully remote…
Haven't been announced yet. Most probably they should be alright to stay near some office in that case you should be fine with Austin
So you’re saying it shouldn’t matter what office you’re hired at as long as you’re near an office in general?
Yes. But then this is not official company wide policy which I said is not announced. This was told to me by an HR when I was trying to convert my role to remote
This will likely go to a hybrid model, requiring you to report into the office you are BASED out of, not any office.. never heard that option even being discussed. This is based on All hands, AMA, and a little bit of common sense.
I'm in a similar boat: I was hired for an SJ role and they verballed my SJ salary. Until I actually move, they adjusted my salary to where I currently live, and that lower salary is what was on my offer letter. I've yet to find out if they still expect me to relocate or not. They don't have an office here, so the options are either relo to SJ, work remotely from my current area, or relo to a non-SJ office. I have no idea which options I'll be allowed to choose from.

Won’t be back until Q1 next year. Don’t have a date yet. Would suggest to check out positions in Austin. PayPal has a big office there as well
Yeah I’ve been applying but can’t seem to get a call back for any Austin positions. Probably because everyone is moving here. I’ve had 3 recruiters reach out for different positions for Bay Area offices. Do you think the company will push back wfh any further? Or perhaps follow suit with amazons new wfh policy?
I don’t see PayPal going with full remote at all, based on the current conversations. But it’s possible to delay to early Q2
