I recently accidentally ran into this. I was told that through the end of August you can work from wherever, but after that you have to get permission to work somewhere if it is more than 3 weeks. From what I was told that is true even for people who are remote.
It depends on your manager. Earlier this year I went back to my home state to work remotely for 4 weeks. I mentioned it to my manager and she was fine with it. I have a coworker who asked, before joining, if it’s ok that she works remotely from Costa Rica where she has family for the month of December and she got the green light. If your team is permanently remote friendly, like mine, then it should be no problem
