Getting a PhD on machine learning theory + algo game theory @ Berkeley. Do quant firms hire researchers like me, or do they not really use algo game theory?

Several of my peers who graduated IEOR PhD from Cal end up at quant firms like Citadel
Just look at the job descriptions + linkedins of ppl who work there ? Maybe @here your lab's alumni channel (or mailing list --if your lab doesn't maintain a slack or discord server), likely someone has at least interviewed or had interactions with quants.
Yes
Yes. And they will offer you a lot of cash your way before you realize the huge compensation package that Big Tech will try to throw at you
What do you mean? Are you saying that big tech pays more?
Quant firms offer a lot of cash. But I’ve seen a couple PhDs who are now very rich of Big Tech stock appreciation over the past couple years
Sure they are all waiting for you. No trading until you're coming.
Lol
What TC are you expecting?
Capital One level 😁
They use it. Just not anymore. Maybe in crypto.
I think algo game theory was hot last decade but not anymore I don't think anyone gives a fuck about it. Either way do try Voleon, it's a shitty company but is based next to Cal and pays moderately. They only ask you about linear regression.
Are you working in BAIR lab? I wouldn’t see why not
