People renting in the bay area, where do you plan to settle down?

Looking at what 1.5M - 2M can buy you in the bay is depressing, especially considering you need to save 20% down to buy those places. There are options like livermore, Pittsburg, etc. but they're quite far from the city. Wondering where people plan to settle down when they're done with the renting life?

I listed Canada in the poll due to the currency conversion being useful for increasing purchasing power, but house prices are put of control in Vancouver and Toronto too.
