Potential offer in the city but I live in San Jose. What is the most efficient way to get to the city without losing my mind? #commute Tc 80k
Where in the South Bay?
San jose
No way José.
Don't
There's not enough money that can cause me to waste the best years of my life commuting.
That's what I'm thinking... Especially since tc is 80k
Plenty of companies hiring in the bay. DM me for referral. I have friends in many companies that are hiring.
Manjose
Live in the city, can’t even think of live in South Bay. Left a dream offer because of commute lol fml.
Caltrain. 1 hour with the baby bullet. If you live and work within 5-10 minutes of both SJ station and sf station then it’s not that bad. Because you don’t have to deal with traffic. If you live or work further from the stations then it’s starts to become not worth it
Yeah I'm like 20-30 minutes from diridon so idk
Mulesoft is kinda far from Caltrain think it’s not worth it if you’re getting just $80K. Seems like you’re young and in sales. If also single I’d recommend just moving to SF. Or find a job in Palo Alto / San Mateo. And live in South San Francisco.
$80k plus the long commute is not worth it. Not trying to be an a-hole, but why are you even considering it? New to tech? Only job that gave u an offer? Why don't u leetcode and get better offers?
Not everyone on blind is a software engineer.
I'm in sales. It's with mulesoft and I figured it would be a good opportunity but the more I think about it the more it would wear me down. Also I'm not moving into the city with 10 roommates
For me I’d say TC needs to be in the $400K+ range to justify. It gets old after about a year and a half
And then you either move or stay in that city during the week. There is no TC that justifies wasting 720 hours commuting per year. Think about your health, think about other ways you can monetize those hours and those are fixed costs no matter what the comp is
Holy Christ 720 hours a year. Never thought of it that way
Horrible, if you want life do not work in sf.
If you want a life work and live in sf. Throw South Bay into the equation and you got no life
