Got offered a role as a performance and capacity engineer at Facebook. Does this fall under the umbrella of software engineer? Would I be able to transfer to other Software engineer roles internally after a while? I’ve read some posts about data engineers / Analysts having to reinterview since they’re not formal Software engineer titles. It’s a decent package and the work sounds pretty interesting, so I’m likely to accept but I’d like to be flexible about my career and have the option to collaborate and explore other teams at Facebook in the future. It’s my first time going into an infrastructure related role so I don’t want to dig myself into a career that may be hard to transition out of if it’s something I decide to do. It’s pretty early on in my career. Thanks!
Some of my coworkers, as CEAs, work on codebase quite a lot, some even more than SWEs. Not sure why you want the transfer, I heard the compesation of SWE, PE, and CEA is about the same?
Not so worried about the compensation, just would like to be able to explore different parts of the product eventually if I work here long term. That’s good to hear that they work in the codebase actually. Thanks!
...does ANYONE at FB only touch one part of something?
Mind sharing the numbers? I can confirm if they line up with SWE
Congratulations! And Thanks @GElu30
When did you give the on-site?
Do you mind sharing your interview experience? Have an interview coming up with the same team at FB in the coming few weeks. Thanks in advance!
would you mind sharing how was the interview and topics asked? I have been working as Performance engineer since last 8 years but dont have coding experience. So want to understand if it still fits me..
Do we have any capacity Engineer here? Dm please?

FB is a pretty big place, I wouldn’t be too worried about flexibility, regardless of if a different title would take interviewing for that title. Look at the offer and whether the job you’re looking at right now is something you’d love doing. ❤️
