Pet Peeve: One word ping "Hi", "Hey".

Anyone else super bugged by this? I hate when someone sends me a one word ping with no follow-up. They wait until I respond similarly with "hey" before they ask me what they actually need to.
Why not just be straight up with what you need instead of wasting both of our cognitive time with this "hey" crap?

Hi, [name]. I have a quick question for you (or things to discuss with you) please let me know when you have 5 min to chat.
Most of them understood and changed their behavior and now send a hi along with the request. You should try it.
