I got a PhD admit at Stanford under a world renowned Prof's lab and Amazon seems like dirt to me reg. my long and short term interests. Any way around paying back prorated relocation costs to Amazon. Had taken a cheaper relocation package option. If no other option, so be it and I won't think about it a second time. But if there is an easy way, I'd like to go for it and not let it trickle by. Cheers
I heard even if you don't pay back nothing would happen to you. Amazon won't sue you
But if something happened I bet I would want to sue you ;p
This is true. They send threatening emails but if it's California (an at will state) they can't get back shit. Just leave and say sorry and you'll pay them back later when you have money. And then never do.
They don't care .
About my situation or the payment ?
Payment
Just find something to sue Amazon for and if they ask for repayment, cut a deal
How long have you been in Amazon?
Why don't you just honor the contract that you signed and stop impugning the company?
I do not understand your thinking. If someone is unhappy why should they waste their time and the companies time
That was not my point. The point was that the contract requires returning prorated relocation costs, so the OP should just pay what he owes when he leaves.
Honor the contract you signed and pay back.
So you are here to ask how to not pay back the money you owned to your employer? You got accepted to one of the best tech companies and then the best university but don’t like to pay back what you owned to others? That’s who you want to be ?
Don’t give anything back to them. Are you here less than a year? If yes you also don’t have to give back the sign on bonus. Everyone I know did that
For AMZNs business minded frugal, cheap pockets, coming back after 5 years would sound like 'don't bs us'. Did it work for anyone?
Come back for internship next summer
