I will be graduating with a masters degree next month and will start working at Microsoft as a Software Engineer. I am interested in research, and thinking of going for a PhD next year. Does anyone has any advice on the application process for PhD, also does Microsoft has any tie ups with big universities and provides guidance/support for the same? Any help will be really appreciated..!
If you want to be a swe then no need phd, so don’t go
As pointed out, the OP is interested in research.
I wouldn’t do it now that market is good. You can go back to school when the bust happens in a couple of years.
There is a age range limit on mbas tho
I got my PHD before my MBA. Best decision I ever made.
Can you expand on that? In what ways was it better / did it benefit you? I’m curious, as I’m in a place where I have 7 YOE, TC $136k in Raleigh, NC. Weighing the benefits of getting a degree at 30. Have roughly 2 years undergrad credit.
@DDM2K if I'm inferring correctly, you're considering getting your bachelors? I'm around the same age as you with the same yoe. To give you a data point my TC is at about $200K (albeit in northern VA). Getting your degree could open you up for opportunities higher up. @softwere I am interested in the question though. I only have a BE but considering doing an MBA or masters in CS or SE. How impactful was getting your phd?
Probably Wash U?
Wash U is in Missouri! UW is the one in Seattle.
