I have a Ph.D. in computational biology if I took a couple of CS classes could I work for an IT company? Has anyone done this before?
Why SWE? Given your background you will be a good data scientist. Have you looked into insights data science and data engineering fellowships? They've had a few success stories with people having similar background as yours. Insight fellows are now at Facebook, Uber etc
I was working an a PhD in evolutionary genomics. Quit at the finish line, swapped to software engineering. Did a boot camp, worked my ass off, and make way more than if I did anything with the PhD.
Yes. I did that except I was just a bio undergrad. Am a lot happier now lol
There are 18 years working at Facebook. Nothing is impossible if you try. Go for it.
Be a quant. Make $$$
Just so data science, heavy value in domain knowledge + ability to program. Pay is pretty good if you have a PhD.
Yes. I myself have a PhD in biochemistry. Am currently doing the UPenn MCIT program online. I'd look in to that if you are serious.
Howโs your experience so far with the UPenn MCIT program?
Good. Flexible. Learning a lot. I was admitted as part of the first online cohort, so they are working out the kinks, but def. Worth it in my opinion . I did a bootcamp as well, and you learn way more in the mcit program that allows you to be more self sufficient.
OP, did you switch?
