What does it mean when the recruiter does all the talking?
It means they’re a bad interviewer, but if you let them talk then they probably enjoyed it and thought it went well. I had a 45-minute call where I spoke for a total of >10 mins recently and the recruiter thought it went smashingly.
It depends what they are saying. I’m a recruiter. Usually when I’m talking a lot it means I want to pitch the potential value of a role, but before I do that I’m asking what matters to a given candidate. Sometimes I’ll get very short answers which is fine. But I’m going to be talking more on calls like that.
What company are you at?
It’s called Bread
Most often an "interview" with a recruiter is simply a screen to make sure you're a good fit for the role and company, as well as ensure your understanding of what the role and its responsibilities are. As long as you spoke appropriately and understood, it really doesn't matter how little you spoke.
I’m a recruiter. Usually when they do that, they hope you don’t ask questions because they don’t know anything. I do more listening in my calls, but then again I’m an executive recruiter
It typically means they have nobody in their pipeline, and they're trying too hard to sell/close. Use this to your advantage to negotiate and get a higher offer.
