I’d like to know things like - is a full interview loop needed or just informal interviews with new manager/team? How hard can it get to move in general, since there are more open positions in SF area. Currently live in Redmond therefore looking at their Seattle office, but from California originally so I might want to go back to Bay Area in the near future. This is for a Backend Engineer. It's usually very easy to move locations, especially to HQ. Think about it this way: HQ always has more open roles - who would they rather hire? Unproven external candidate or an internal candidate who will hit the ground running.
Good point! Thanks.
Easy seattle -> sf. Other way around a little harder
Seattle office is more competitive for all of these.

Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?

Avoid teams with only Chinese or Indians especially with a Chinese/Indian manager
Why not tell the recruiter that you want to interview for Bay area locations?
Not able to move right away for personal reasons, but want to do it say 2-3 years from now.
