The woman COO of Pinterest who was fired shared some pretty heavy stuff: - Only female C-level at the comany - She was the only C-level to have 10-20-30-40% vesting, everyome else had 25-25-25-25% (and she only found this out due to the S1-filing). Oh, when hired she was told that all execs have the same backdated vesting. Actually, just her. - Only C-level to have taken a company public, yet only C-level not invited to the roadshow with the excuse that “someone needs to hold the fort” (while the boys who have never done this have fun, I’m adding) - Only C-level to be excluded from board meetings - Her performance reviews did not mention business results, but focused on her being too “combatative” How did this even happen at a comany with 70% female user base? How is it remotey okay? Does the Pinterest CEO and C-level have this clear of a beef with anyone who is not a white dude like they all are? https://medium.com/@francoise_93266/the-pinterest-paradox-cupcakes-and-toxicity-57ed6bd76960 This comes off the back of black people sharing how there is a “den of discrimination” at Pinterest: https://wapo.st/39G2yge People working at Pinterest: what do you do think? Does this refect the day-to-day? And is it really a thing for women to have different (worse) equity vesting to men at Pinterest?? #pinterest #pinterestipo
This Is bold and more power to her. This will help her in landing next role immensely but I doubt anything would change at Pinterest
Ok Angelica. What’s your reasoning ? From what I see, the numbers and the details provided by her has not been disputed by anyone and seems legit. I don’t think it’s card, she really a victim !
Just a thought-- maybe she is incompetent. I don't really know anything about that. But the compensation and vesting details are decided before joining. So the company didn't know if the output is equal or unequal.
This is a good example of why it’s important to share your salary info with your peers
The recommendation about retention and not just hiring is 💯. Companies make overtures about hiring and then leave employees to fend for themselves or get disillusioned about lack of career growth. Also a toxic culture can be perpetuated not just by men, but by women in the organization through a sense of self-preservation or through complicity. Hope her lawsuit doesn't turn into a he said/she said that just reinforces the problem.
Company lied to her about the vesting? I blame the CEO and board members for this mistake, they should have corrected it right away. Not have her find out after the fact.
I have worked there as engineer so I can speak only about eng org. Pinterest is a shitshow in terms of engineering leadership. It is full of politics and highly incompetent managers. Hiring standards are at all time low which is creating all this BS. It's good for them that their stock popped up but overall it's no less than tier3 company. Current employees are resting, vesting and doing politics while enjoying the hard work of folks who worked there in the past.
It’s only a bad culture if the company is unsuccessful. Look at Uber, it’s a fucking taxi app, founded by a humanity vacuum. There are still people that look up that business model. Same with wework. It’s a commercial real estate agent sell sublets. The difference being that it was run by someone who should have founded a scientology coven.
That’s horrible. Let’s boycott and ban Pinterest
It’s far worse than what’s got public! It’s even worse than Uber before 2017. I hope some class action lawsuit can happen to help all the victims
Lol this is some first class trolling. No, it's not bad at all. The claims have been unsubstantiated
Also products developed for LGBT should only be done by LGBT. And white versa, if the product is not used by black - we should not hire black people to work for a company. Go woke or go broke, crazy crazy people.
Thanks for the summary OP.
