Recently joined DoorDash and was told by recruiter that we’ve unlimited PTO (they call it flexible vacation days but do mention there’s no upper limit - a tagline with which they attract you). We just got an internal memo from the VP of engineering no less that we should limit our vacation to 15-20 days a year in engineering, which is a joke, especially in the Bay Area! If you’re looking to join DoorDash engineering, make sure you’re aware of this. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot of good engineering happening here but I do want to flag this to anyone looking to join us, the management here is really focused on the wrong things especially in engineering #DoorDash #doordashengineering #engineering #software

Also the problem is not if 20 days is generous or not . It is if they are going to cap ‘unlimited’ at 15-20 days which is the same at other companies then they should pay for unused pto similar to other companies
