A lot of us here are having hard time going through the uncertainties of GC backlog and now the H1B RFEs/Rejections/Transfers. ImmigrationVoice is a non-profit org trying to lobby on this matter and they need our support. Please donate (recurring donation of $25 a month can make a difference). More details here: https://immigrationvoice.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=26&Itemid=44 I understand that this post is going to get attention from a lot of haters, who either don't care about the issue or are here just to show their hatred towards high skills immigrants (may be because of their insecurity). To these people, I just got two words "F**K YOU"
But what do you guys do with the money?
There is a lot of information about their work on their website.
I am also waiting for my green card. But immigration voice is very shady in the sense they never disclose their financials. I tried reaching out to them to produce their accountability documents as a non profit. But never got any answers. I would never ask anyone to donate anything until there is accountability. You should verify as well before asking anyone to donate.
That is a fair point. However, I have looked at some of the events they organized (ie. Inviting HR392 Sponsor for discussion - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvgMR2AqWVs&t=109s). As a non-profit org, they have to report their financials and I am sure there is a way to get into more details (I will ask them right away). $25 a month is not going to break bank for me (and hopefully for many others), and with $50k a month, this Org is not going to make a ton of money. Common, people here donate for Cat videos.
They're the only organization working with lawmakers to do something realistic. Every other group runs dumb letter writing campaigns (straight to trash), meeting state level leaders to address this federal law issue, talk trash about one group of politicians when support from both sides of the aisle is necessary etc. IV has been laser focused on per country cap removal since day 1which was like a decade ago, has hired full time lobbyists, holds multiple events in the capital every year with hundreds of members, works closely with the likes of Rep. Kevin Yoder (HR 392 sponsor) etc and their work has seen us get closer to fairness in high skilled immigration than ever before as HR 392 has been added to this year's spending bill that needs to pass in a month or so. If not IV, whom do you trust ?
No.
Wish my family had something similar in the 80s. They just stuck it out and not whine about it. đ
Yeah, different times.
How is it different times? The uncertainty was still there!
Do post this again tomorrow? Many of them would be on vacation today.
Sure, I hope that the post gets enough hits to be on the top for at least a few days. If not, I will post it again in a few days.
No.
How the money is spend? Dont just say lobbying...please give more details so that people understand what's going on
Lol. No.
Nah Iâm good. Less H1B means more $$$ for me.
Well, companies could just outsource and open offices in other countries eventually. Panasonic Avionics moved hardware from Osaka to Californis because it was cheaper... now most of it is going to India (for design) and Mexico (for manufacturing). Hardware engineers are getting laid off here. Business go for the cheaper route and will tolerate some inadequacies as long as profits are there.
That's a dumb logic. These people are already on H1B. As long as they are in green card backlog, they have a harder time to change jobs than citizens, making hiring them an advantage for companies. Once the bill passes, these people who are already in US will be able to change jobs far easier, which would also reflect in more competitive salaries. More competitive immigrants in the job market = greater demand and pay for citizens.
How about no
Sure, I would say thank you for looking at the post. There are enough people here who care about this and can help this Org achieve monthly allocation of $50k.
