Anyone work at Lyft Level 5 in Palo Alto? What’s it like? How does it compare to the core Lyft office in SF? Positive outlook on the work being done in self-driving there?

Hard to find Glassdoor reviews and other info specific to Level 5.

As someone who worked at Level 5 I can say that most teams are terrible. There are less than a handful of good managers. It’s basically Google Streetview 2.0. Managers are clawing their way to stay in their positions. You’ll have no work/life balance. The reason for the Unlimited PTO is because if you had a normal vacation a company would have to either pay you for the vacation time you don’t take or force you to take it before the end of the year. Lyft doesn’t want you to do that. L5 and LBS are the worst. If you aren’t willing to kiss ass and play the game you’re screwed

Actually I got an offer and didn’t take it at that time. Honestly I was a bit skeptical with my interview experience. I also felt they were way behind compared to other self driving car teams in different places. I didn’t accept the offer then and recently they reached out to me again asking if I am still interested. I wasn’t very sure myself at that time and I will likely steer away this time as well.

If you just look at the the hardware side of things you’ll notice they are behind Tesla. My prediction is that Waymo will acquire them so you’d end up getting Waymo stock. TBD for sure. I’d steer clear from them. Super toxic

Shitty middle management throughout who thinks they know what they’re doing. They’ll throw money at you but it’s not sustainable and bad for your career. Stay away from this hot trash

Based on direct experience from colleagues (from Apple) who joined L5 team, the work environment is pretty good with interesting projects. Yes, Lyft is quite behind in self driving car race but one gets newer and interesting projects. L5 infrastructure is also a bit lacking but probably improving with time.

  • Heard pretty bad things about it. They seem to be quite far behind in the race.
