See a lot of hate on our Slack, some teams were told not to communicate with their Russian colleagues.

🧊 🔨for Russians who live in RF or lived during past ~10 years:

    - What is US objective in supporting Ukraine & NATO?
    - If Russian economy sucks, tech & science talent goes to US and EU. What else benefits the US/West?
    - What are benefits to Russia becoming a self-reliant nation? We only see negative points through western media. Is this Russian MAGA?

Help Americans understand Russian sentiment and reality.

@Microsoft - This is pretty good and thanks for weighing in. I appreciate your perspective, although I suspect it’s biased by the impetus for studying Russian history & language. I don’t disagree with your conclusions—WW3 has been ongoing and most people failed to see how F’ed we all are.

I compare the section of the US populace who buy into MAGA with the Russian nationalist demographic you suggest is dominant. Is that an unfair conclusion? Trump and friends essentially exploited social insecurities instead of tapping into historical Russian aggression & bloodlust you noted. But there are notable parallels.

    • There are parallels between the MAGA and Putin crowds in the sense that they are both stalwart conservative "deep Nation" segments in their prospective countries. However, there are clear differences. The American conservatives are pro freedom and anti mandate of any kind (anti-mask, anti-vax, anti-tax, anti-gun control, anti-government, etc.). The Russian conservatives are pro government control and anti individual freedom. They don't see freedom as a cause of prosperity and happiness. Instead, collectivism and over-reaching government are seen as the most efficient way to achieve national goals. In this way, Russian conservatives are closer to American liberals than to the MAGA crowd.

There are distinctions too - American liberals are pacifists and value virtue signaling more than risking their own lives in an armed conflict. Russian and American conservatives are much more risk tolerant. Also, Putin respects a strong military response and despises weakness. In a sense, he views strong resolve as the equalizer in the military balance with the US (banking that Americans won't raise the stakes by themselves and will let him continue having the initiative). So far, the Biden's administration has behaved like a sheep in wolf's clothing, which could only provoke further and further acts of aggression. That was the basis of my remark about WW3. In order to tame a wolf, you need to be a wolfhound.
