Looking for feedback on my medium-low risk portfolio for the next 4-5 years pls: 60% VOO (Vanguard S&P 500) 30% VOT (US mid cap growth) 10% Crypto (BTC/ETH 50-50) Why speak to financial advisors when you have such an expert community here on Blind. Merry Christmas #personalfinance #investments #FIRE
I wouldn’t say this is is a medium-low risk portfolio. If you’re trying to avoid risk (no point unless you’re closer to retirement), you should have a 40:60 stocks:bonds split
Bonds are literally not even beating inflation right now.
Exactly my reason for not suggesting to actually maintain such a split, unless you are close to retirement.
Lol you think this is low risk? In a market crash like 2008 your portfolio will drop by half. Unfortunately, an actually low risk portfolio, with bonds/cash, will have lower expected returns.
Bonds are literally losing money right now. Inflation exceeds bond yields, even on highly leveraged positions (which are no longer low risk). Cash is just losing even more money. Low volatility and negative returns are only desirable when the only alternative is high volatility and negative returns. There are positive returns on the table. You should not be holding any investments yielding less than inflation right now.
Any investment yielding more than inflation right now is not low risk. The ONLY exception is I bonds, but you can only buy $10k/year and it will still return less than inflation after tax. There is no such thing as low risk, high return. Pick one.
Fair, make that a "relatively higher risk portfolio" for traditional standards. I'm not considering bonds/cash at the moment.
I didn’t read past 60% VOO and think it’s fantastic.
All I see here is a portfolio of 0% TC and 100% GTFO. Recommend rebalance
Low risk low reward. How old are you? If under 30, I'd shoot for mucher higher reward even if it comes with more risk. Also, TC or GTFO
Dang, any ideas for what to do for high risk? I keep getting crushed by buying growth etf and stocks
How have you possibly lost money on growth stocks over the last decade? Hell, even since COVID?
