Portland or Denver?

If you could choose between the two to work and raise a family, what would you choose and why? Assume you may be switching jobs over the next couple years too.

Portland. Lots of great microbreweries and a fun culture.

Too many homeless in Portland. Never felt safe. Much more to do in Denver with 5 major sports teams and better skiing close by. No contest.

How can you tell it's human (not dog) feces?

Everywhere. Should I create a separate post to discuss human feces vs dog feces in SF?

Denver 100%. No brainer. No question.

      Could you elaborate why?

Boulder. Far Superior weather. Cooler people. Best skiing on the continent. Equally outstanding beer. Infinitely better outdoor recreation. Comparable/better tech jobs. Great sports town.

Denver is the best kept secret in the country. If I wasn’t in the Bay Area, I’d be in the Denver metro area.

Lived in Portland for over 5 years, have only visited Denver.

Denver has 300+ days of sun per year and Portland has rain mid-October through mid-May. Unless you’re going to Nike or Intel, probably Denver from an opportunity standpoint. Portland is a nice place to live/raise family, but there’s virtually nothing to do unless you like hiking.

So you're saying tech is growing faster I'm Denver than PDX?

The traffic in Portland is horrible. The 26 that goes east and west has a part of it between Beaverton and Portland that's congested most of the day on any given day during the week. The city infrastructure wasn't built to accommodate for a growing population, which I think is a huge factor for why Portland has limited opportunities to grow.

Thanks for clarifying on that. Can't deal with crazy traffic after living in the Bay Area

Portland hands down compared to Denver in terms of opportunities. Denver is a scenic place too

Opportunities in terms of tech jobs? I always thought Denver had an advantage on this aspect

depends what race you are. If you’re white then either city is fine. Denver too cold in the winter though.

Sorry I meant the cold comment lol. It's so mild here for a place that gets winter. Barely ever snows or sticks down in denver

Whenever I go to Denver I see tons of drug addicts downtown, police every block. I liked other parts of Colorado much more.
