Possible lead in Portland

A senior director has asked if I want to lead a team at kinder care in Portland. How is the compensation, cost of living, job market in Portland? Is it worth the move from Seattle? Designation would be Sr. Technical lead. I didn't get an interview yet, but have worked with the director in the past and if I say I am interested, interview would be just a formality. Besides everything, is it a good move leaving amazon for a non tech company?

You'll be doing all of the work yourself. Nobody on the team will be capable or willing. If you like doing all the work yourself go for it. In non-tech companies people expect to be told exactly what to do. You will have to provide line by line code instructions. LOL

Having worked in non tech world, I'd save you are exaggerating the talent (or lack of it) in tech and non tech companies. And Wells Fargo. Really!!!

^😂. When did Wells Fargo become a tech company? Did they change from banking recently?

A plus, no sales tax in Oregon

Moved from Seattle to Portland a year ago - cost of living is slightly lower, but so are salaries. No sales tax is nice, but state income tax isn’t. The job market is much smaller than Seattle that’s for sure. And the homeless problem is worse, if you can believe it. Seattle is prettier, but Portland has a lot more personality to it. More laid back though.
