Do we really need these meetings? We spent hours on these after every sprint. Ppl bring up good and bad things. But what about action item on the bad things? I have not seen a single PM or Dev manager at Microsoft who sincerely come up with a plan or measurable actions on the feedback. If we don’t do this, then why t f we need these meetings? All we do is waste time and sticky notes.
This goes to any meeting, feedback loops. If they're not implementing changes based on the meetings, blame the ones responsible not the concept. Retrospectives are great. They help you find and understand holes in the system and ensure you don't hit the same issue again. If done right.
A retro every sprint is good, but the essential part is having at least one action you commit to changing every retro and then seeing if it was effective. If you don’t change based on your reflections you’re wasting time. (It’s also fair game to comment on your retro in retro.)
It’s not the retrospective. It’s the people you work with who don’t take action on them.
I think you should bring up in retrospective on steps to make retrospective effective. If you don't see the value of retrospective then it is not implemented properly or the team is not aware of the importance of it to use it effectively
It's the most valuable time we spend together as a team. Your team as you point out with no accountability for action items is not doing that part right.
Thats your retro feedback
