I attended onsite interview at Walmart E-commerce at their Sunnyvale, CA campus last Monday for a Dev-ops role. I received an email from the recruiter the next day saying he got the feedback from the team and has some great news to share and would like to discuss next steps over telephone. I sent him my availability to talk immediately. However, I haven't heard back from the recruiter until now even after a week. I did send 2 follow up emails to the recruiter, however, there is still no response. I sent an email to one of the team members who was part of the interview panel and he sounded positive about the outcome. I'm confused now as to what the next steps would be as I haven't received any response from the recruiter yet. Has anybody experienced something similar?
Interview panel and hiring decision maker are two diff ppl. What might’ve happened is that someone else interviewed after you and they like them more but that person hasn’t accepted yet so they don’t want to say anything. You’re their insurance for right now. Or it could be other reasons too. It still sucks. Keep interviewing. I’d never assume I have a new job until my butt’s in the chair the first day TBH. Anything can happen.
Has happened to me twice now where recruiter went from ‘great news’ to ‘ghost’. I would agree with above comment. There is no value to words anymore. TBH , we as candidates would have done the same if 2nd offer comes along - someone could argue. But I still feel its wrong on company’s part as in case of company/recruiter ghosting on you its an individual who is impacted as compared to multi-billion dollar firm. Dunno, just my opinion but I have felt the burn.
The only scenario that I could think of is that they’re waiting for a better candidate to accept the offer which puts you in an awkward situation like this
It’s completely unacceptable for recruiters to do this. We should out them here.
That really sucks. Totally sorry to hear about it. Being ghosted after getting your hopes up is the worst.
