I have a friend interviewing at postmates who is very concerned about the negative Glassdoor reviews (sexual harassment, tech-bro douchebag culture) Spill the details! (DM me if that’s easier)
I wouldn’t work there. Have had two friends there. It’s real.
Details! I’m so curious now
I've heard terrible things about the place from a co-worker. Spoke as if he was seriously scarred. Concerned the crap outta me too.
Details! I tried telling my friend that people usually only leave bad reviews when things ended badly and that the whole company probably isn’t terrible. But now I’m worried about them being true across the board.
Systemic bro culture, failing business, harassment of customers, apparently a case of racism against him (he was Asian), treating delivery people less than human, and also being paid ridiculously poorly vs market. He never named anything specific for fear of retaliation.
True story - I went there for onsite interview , and one of the interviewers sat beside me and tapped my lap with his hand twice while showing the hackerrnk problem on his system. It was super weird and I just got up and went to the whiteboard and asked him to read the problem to me
I know a guy who used to work there quite high up, leaving surprisingly quickly. He said things were strange and not ok, leaving him to bounce early. This was about 1-2 years ago, so not the latest information.
Seems like maybe your person was there for the start of some weirdness. I don’t want to make my friend feel bad about an offer since the role is right up her alley, but a toxic workplace and sexual harassment aren’t normal things to put up with.
I personally have not heard of toxicity or sexual harassment @Postmates. Those are not ok anywhere, agreed.
People on Blind , like on Glassdoor, can be pretty negative. I work there and I love it. It’s a pretty tough ( but fair ) environment where there is a lot of pressure to get things done well and quickly but that’s how you learn to get better at your job. Big learning opportunities.
The Glassdoor reviews are primarily from independent contractors
I have not seen or heard such incidents directly. Like all startups, things can be a bit chaotic sometimes but I enjoyed working in my team and everyone I worked with is professional.
Harassment is real and there are people that left because of it. Just because some people haven’t seen it doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened. No one goes to HR because HR leaks information. If your friend doesn’t care about toxicity of a company, then evaluate it on the lack of vision. I’m in the middle of interviewing at other companies because I can only take this culture for so long. There are better companies in SF to work for.
Company leadership is terrible. HR does nothing. They would rather turnover then deal with issues.
I just quit there last month.
Isn't your friend on blind?
