Asking the community for some guidance, especially people who were previous founders. I’ve been approached by a few VCs (a16z, Sequoia, and some smaller funds) after open sourcing a project at a previous company. The partners at pretty much every VC are encouraging me to try to build off the open source project and make it into a commercial product. Seems like the current steps they want to go through is introduce me to more partners, talk to industry leaders to find product market fit, and potentially find a co-founder. My primary concern is would it be worth dropping my career to pursue this especially because I have a job I really enjoy? Also if someone did pursue this, regarding funding how do you prepare to get your seed round? I keep getting told from the partners they’ve funded companies that have way less that what I’ve pushed out, but I still don’t have an understanding of how that funding process happens. Thanks so much for any feedback in advance! TC Tax: 425k YOE: 2.5
Sounds like ODF would be perfect for you https://www.beondeck.com/founders

Just vote on your poll and go with that decision. It’s you who needs to do it, not those voting.
you can afford the risks at this age. good name on resume, and if you get decent name for funding behind you - failing wont matter trust me. half of VCs are failed founders who had good funding behind them
