Have an onsite interview coming up with the Power BI team at Microsoft and would love to hear your thoughts if you've worked on the team or heard about them.
Worst org to be in. Extremely toxic. Highly political. Ex Power BI org dev.
How long ago did you work there? I think pretty much the whole management was changed in the last couple of years. Especially the top ones.
The fact that the whole management changed in the last couple of years is what I meant by highly political. 2 years from now if the management is completely different than what it is today, then it will just prove my point further. I believe the problem lies at the very top (above Power BI team).
Love the product! It's very powerful
who is the cvp of this org
The CVP is James Phillips who was the previous GM for power Bi. Main issues with Power BI - resist to innovate and change; do you want to have to deal with 10 years old c++ COM, monolithic architecture, ASP.Net, WCF, a single SQL server as metadata repo. - Th current GM who is used to be a sales guy with no technical background.. lack of visions, change his mind on a dime.. so no reason for any planning whatsoever. - A technical fellow who only care about what feature he can demo in the next big conference. We called it Amir Driven Development. Emphasize in building a demo than everything else (fixing technical debts, modernizing architecture) - mid management who are full of yes men/women.
