My friend is expecting an onsite interview call at Byton for powertrain eng. Does anyone have any pointers on what can be expected for the interview?? Also how is the WLB in Byton? Thanks in advance! 4 yoe 150K+ base pay
No clue on what to expect for the interview. WLB is great. There’s barely anything to do all day. Mondays and Fridays a lot of people “work from home” but I suspect they’re interviewing at other places. A lot of development stopped months ago due to lack of money to pay our suppliers. We recently closed our C round but no idea of how long it would take for funds to transfer to our bank account. For reference, it took 6 months from B round close to when the money finally hit the bank account. Also, all of our investors are Chinese, if you’re okay with creeping Chinese oversight into the intellectual property. About a dozen employees leave every month. We even have directors and early joiners starting to leave. Read the negative reviews on Glassdoor. Despite all that’s going on, our paychecks have always been on time. Salary is higher than Silicon Valley average. Edit: things might actually pick up in the next few months due to an upcoming phase of development that’s do or die for Byton. It’s wholly dependent on whether we can hire enough people to replace those who left and actually get funding in the bank. Long story short, I wouldn’t recommend Byton at all.
If they have other opportunities, go that route. Things are rough right now.
Very unstable company with a lot of politics, backstabbing and toxic energy. Read the reviews on glassdoor. Pretty much sums it up. Management sucks. Cant recommend the company. CEO is disengaged and has no handle on how to run a global company.
I doubt he will get $150k+ with 4 yoe only. I know managers with 10-15 years making 180k at Byton. Work life balance is very good right now at Byton. It will get worse when work picks up, which will happen over the next 2-5 months. Then you can easily expect to be putting in at least 50 hrs a week, if not more.
