Pre-Sales Solutions Architect Titles?

Keeping it short and sweet, an AWS recruiter reached out, we had a quick 15 minute intro call, and they advised that given my background and YOE, that I apply for a Principal level opening in my area. I applied for a Principal Cloud Architect role, but found out that the role is on the Professional Services team, not the Solutions Architect team, the latter of which I think is the better fit. The AWS job site lists both under Solutions Architect... a misread on my part. So quick questions: 1. What are the differences in the day to day for an SA on the SA team vs. an SA on the PS team? 2. What are the job titles for the pre-sales "SAs" at Microsoft/Google/IBM? Going to explore my options and don't want to make that mistake again-- EDIT: FWIW, I'm on the Infrastructure side, compute/network/storage/virt/etc., not SWE

IBM has an “architect” job role that spans sales, services, and customer success with slight name changes such as IT Architect, Customer Success Architect, Client Architect, and Solution Architect. You’ll need to read the job description to know what business unit/industry it’s for but they’re all essentially a client facing solutions role.

I just had this conversation with someone at AWS as I'd been eyeing a potential switch and wasn't sure which area best aligns with my interests. This is how it was described to me: "A non ProServ SA would work with a customer to design a potential solution but not really do anything with it (maybe answer questions, customer implements, SA has no hands on with actual customer account) vs. a ProServ SA would be brought in on an engagement to actually propose solutions and then help implement them in customer environment."

Proserv at AWS is toxic af, higher than the mean toxic At Google these roles are customer engineer, solutions consultant, sales engineer. Post sales roles are called solution architect and require to code hard (at times)

Nobody gives a f about proserv because AWS is partner first. Sales and presales SAs will do everything to not let business come to you

Proserve blows. Basically doing the bish work that presales promised. Even if the solution doesn't make sense.
