Hey all, I'm preparing to change companies since last a month. I have done about 200 leetcode and will start on system design soon. [100 medium, 80 easy, 20 hard] I was wondering how much should I practice leetcode before starting to interview? Aiming for SDE2 level Current L62 210k TC 3.5 yoe
Do blind 75 and understand the concept for each one of them. For Amazon focus on LPs as well. Coding bar is not that high as compared to other FAANG.
200 not enough. I did 975 still failing
I did 1800, still failing.
I finished all questions on LC+LintCode+ProjectEuler+Hackerrank …still failing…🤣
Do yourself a favor and don't come to Amazon if you have other options.
why?
Well if you're lucky then you will get a good team, good projects, good teammates and good management. If you're not so lucky then your experience will be anything but good. Before long the only thing that will keep you going is the day you're quitting. Talking from personal experience. (Not pipped yet) but terrible experience so far. Since I have joined I have seen everyone leave the team that I had initially joined. 1 L8 two managers 2 sde III, 2 sde II, 4 sde I, 1 program manager ..... The new team I joined is slightly better, the manager is a young kid (30 year old) who works insane hours (sometimes works at 3am) and tries very hard to keep the team moving. Even though he's really helpful but the very nature of Amazon (ship fast) means that there's very little down time in between projects and as a result he's quite anal about timing as he himself is proving a point to the higher-ups that he can handle being a manager. Also, a lot of the experienced folks are leaving, so what you're left with is a pretty inexperienced team. You might think that's a good thing as there is room for growth. What you don't consider is the huge pile of tech debt that's left from the previous members without proper doc leading to a pretty high ops load. So you have to constantly prioritize between your deliverables and keeping them service afloat. Also, if you haven't worked on many "impactful" projects during a year then come performance review time you'll be marked as needs improvement because management simply didn't have enough "data points".
Makes sense
Not sure if trolling or serious.
