I had been applying for PgM roles across the big tech firms. I was finally able to get Meta interested in my resume and spoke with the recruiter last week, which I passed through. She had set up the HM interview for today. I got an email from the recruiter today morning saying that they have candidates in the final stages and cancelled my HM interview.
I had worked really hard to present myself properly and studied quite a bit to prepare for the HM interview. It feels very defeating to know that I wasn't even given a chance to showcase my skills, after passing the recruiter screen.
I don't really have anything to contribute- just wanted to vent.

On-site requires a huge investment of time and energy across all companies. A lot of that prep can be repurposed, but many companies will have specific dimensions that force you to invest in more areas of prep.
Recruiter screen: 1% of effort
HM screen: 9% of effort
All other rounds: 90% of effort
Unfortunately, interviewing tends to require more quantity than quality.
