I’ve read somewhere recently that Google is discussing now how to adjust compensation for remote work. Does that mean that I can apply now and if selected work remotely?

So far no impact to stock

    • The way these things seem like they work is your initial RSU grant scales to your location, as does your base pay. But they won't take stock away from you if you move locations after, but they would cut your pay. So, existing employees wouldn't get nerfed stock, but new remote hires would. At least, that's the way it is at Salesforce. I imagine it's the same elsewhere too

I'm not sure if positions offering remote are posted externally and honestly not sure what the policy is for new hires, but likely you'd need to clear that with the hiring manager during team matching if you wanted to be remote.

In my experience it was mostly an informal discussion about my background and experience, what I was looking for, what the team was about and worked on, all with the goal to see if the team was a good fit

I told my recruiter that I am not interested in relocating and she is fine with me going through the interview funnel. Hoping that their policy changes within the year and then I just need to pick a team opposed to fighting a bunch of others trying to get into the funnel.
