How hard is promotion from principal to director? What is the ratio of principals to directors? Is the next level up VP or amother layer? it looks like that director is easiest to get at salesforce ... true?
🙏
@Microsoft, I’m new to this paradigm of “levels” but aware it dictates the compensation band. Why, as you say, are these levels/titles different across companies? Doesn’t this dilute the meaning or description of the role in general? As an interviewee, I imagine I’ll have to ask what the company really means by the title. I’d need to yardstick/benchmark this against something else once they start describing why the role is called “Principal” rather than “Director”. Just curious and appreciate if you can spare some time to explain :)
Salesforce it is director->senior director->VP. We have a lot of directors so it is the easiest out of the companies mentioned. Senior Director and VP are a lot tougher to get.
Is levels.fyi accurate for salesforce mapping to google?
At amazon a principal is a director level (L8) engineer-next level is VP (L10)
Principal is L7
Thank you 🙏
