I'm trying to negotiate a director-level salary for a private credit opportunity - middle market direct lending role, but I'm not sure what the comp structure looks like for that role. They are offering me $175 base, target bonus 100% of the base if I'm rated a 3️⃣ or above and $50K sign-on bonus. Am I being lowballed? PE associates makes $350+ in TC #pe #buyside #vc
Do you think the lowball has to do with the current pandemic?
Talked the recruiter, said that's what their hr team came up with but willing to adjust. Showed them Odyssey search partners' private credit salary report, but it's a 2018 issue. So any updated doc would be appreciated.
Out of curiosity, what did the 2018 survey say for director level? Would also be interested in VP level if you have it.
How many YOE do you have? Feels low but I do know credit has a slight discount to equity. I would also expect a $400-500 range for mid level VP/Director context
8 years
I’d probably expect at least 500 assuming this is MM AUM size and would probably expect some carry as well
What is your background? I'm considering Private Credit as a career path. Would you mind if I DM you?
Sure, 4 years in C&I lending, 1 year in banking, and 2 years in private debt
That’s low - total comp expectation should be 400-600k I think
You should be making much more than that IMO. Directors in lev fin are at 5-600k. For context ares pays near that for associates in credit.
