I'll be talking with my recruiter soon and probably signing an offer if it looks good. Do you like working at Citadel, and why? What do you not like about it? Only concern I've heard mentioned is they hustle hard... I have side hustles such that I'm working total 60h/week so I'm used to working more than usual, so I imagine I could keep up. Edit: Current TC 163k in MCOL, first-year comp guessing to be about 300k at Citadel in Chicago, conservatively. #citadel #chicago
What is mcol?
Medium cost of living (so no one thinks I'm making 163k in SF)
Are you working for citadel securities or the hedge fund?
What role? Are you a C++ infra eng?
It's post-trade management team, so it's going to be working on their data/accounting pipelines after trade. It's in their NXT program
300k in Chicago must be like L7 in HCOL. That's wild.
It's definitely way above what I think I ought to be making with my 1.2YOE but hey man I'll take it.
Wow how do I end up where you are in 1.2 years 😅
I should work for Citadel, and move back to frigid Chicago. Wow.
Need a post on how you prepped 🙏🙏
No prep, I've been doing programming competitions since 10th grade so algorithm interviews are not difficult to me. Doesn't say too much about job performance though, unfortunately, but definitely looks great up front...
Well good for you. Look forward to me dm'ing for a rec in 6 months 😂😂
Congratulations! Honestly a lot of internet haters. I work for hedge fund side, lots of challenging problems to solve and quality of life is hard to beat. 40-50 hrs a week. You literally can’t find a 1 bedroom apartment in the city limits that is outside your price range. After your first year look into getting a boat on the water for summer. Winters are cold but you can fly to Miami every other weekend, the office is right on the blue line and you can get to O’Hare fast.
TC or GTFO?
