I have a phone interview coming up in 3 days for a Product Analyst (Data Science) position at Google. I have tried scouring online for interview prep but there's not a lot of content (2 posts on Blind and one on Glassdoor). I have a decent grasp on SQL / Python / ML but have no idea about what is the level of depth required. Can you please help out a fellow brother by sharing your interview experience / type of questions and the sources that you used to prepare for the interview.
Folllwing. I’ve heard a mix of things from this role.... some say it’s pretty much just sql + product sense / basic statistics (a/b testing). I’ve also heard from people that they were asked some intermediate statistics, machine learning, and python questions. I’m interested to hear what people say here
The prep guide says everything is a fair game. Very dependent on the interviewer. An arrogant but ignorant interviewer could screw up the interview all over by just talking bullshit. Yep, an Indian interviewer I heard.
This makes sense and explains why I’ve heard/read about a wide range of experiences with the role. It seems to pay much lower than a DS (analytics DS) and slightly more than like a business analyst.... which is not what Candidates with some ML background are looking for
The pay is 20% lower than DS, engineering. Yeah, candidates who want to do ML should look for roles that specify AI or ML in Google’s job title. DS usually has PhD and is paid higher but does 80% the same thing as PA. Underutilized talents and underpaid if the DS has ML skills.
Mine was sql product sense and stats for hangouts interview. Not really sure what they are looking for in that role. If 20% lower than ds engineering what is that look like, 175-200 total comp?
That’s what I heard. 160-200K for L4.
Just had the phone screen for marketing data scientist position. No sql or python questions asked. Little bit of ML, modeling and A/B testing questions. Makes me wonder what this entails in terms of the work?
Hello, what kind of modeling questions were asked?
