I think I have spent enough time in Amazon (~1.5 years) as a Sr. PMT (post my MBA) and its time to move on. (Too few roles that give a chance to build digital experiences or maybe I have just been unlucky). I feel there are much better roles and growth opportunities outside than in Amazon. That said, I am on a work visa so I will have to prepare for the interviews without slacking off at work. So I intend to plan for it well in advance. I would love any help from folks here who have switched in the past - 1. How did you prepare - which books, online reading etc helps? The area I dont feel confident about is how much SW development knowledge should I have? 2. How much time should i give this process? 3. While i am doing my research, any good PM roles in seattle would be welcome. thanks for the help. TC- $200 k
Curious to know why you are not trying to move internally? I am preparing for PM interviews. Let me know if you can advise on preparing for Case type questions.
This is my second team in 20 months. I think I might try for one more. But i have talked to my network and I haven't observed anyone happy with the product work they are leading (and if they are, I think they have lower bars). That said, I am looking out because I believe there are better product first companies (Amazon is more operational except of AWS I believe) I will try to collate my prep plan and share with blinders.
Do you see any value in doing Product School Certification or UC Berkeley Certification?
