Product Manager vs Engineering Manager. Better Growth/Comp?

What is the current stance on these two roles? Does anyone have experience in both roles by chance?

Yeah, who is voting PM. At FAANG, EM is very much the way to go.

EM role start at a more senior level than PM (which can start at pretty Jr levels). Also, most companies (some exceptions though) pay engineering roles higher than PM for a same level.

IVY MBA schools graduates 1000s of eager folks every year with very small difference between them and they will mostly die to PM at FAANG. So the supply demand balance is vastly different

True. It is astonishingly hard to land PM job at FAANG (except Amazon, they hire an army of PM and bar is way lower)

That's why Amazon has different classes of PMs
