How is product marketing as a career switch from software engineering.... I am in my 40s and kind of bored with writing and reviewing code day in and day out ... any suggestions?
I'm a fan. Switched from product management. I work with some former developers but they usually get an MBA before making the switch. Yes, pay is less for same levels but the upside is still there since management opportunities are more accessible than for most developers.
Is the pay significantly less ? Can you give some numbers ...
There are only two advantages to being a PMM. First there are far more opportunities for management. And second you can be part of the strategic decision making process. If these things appeal to you then go for it. Otherwise the pay is significantly less. Although at Zendesk I've heard some PMMs make more than SWEs

Avoid teams with only Chinese or Indians especially with a Chinese/Indian manager
It's fun. More fun than being a code š. Pays less assuming same level.
