What are the different levels at capital one in the tech product group? Looking for titles and mapping to tech industry levels.

  • Associate, senior associate, principal associate, manager, senior manager, director, sr director, VP (couple of levels of VP) are the base levels. Sometimes the titles for a given level can vary based on job family but they end up equating back to these.

    Note that manager/senior manager/director etc don’t necessarily mean you have people management responsibilities. There is an individual contributor career path up thru VP level.

    Generally how technical are CapOne PMs? Are there any technical requirements per level?

    • If the projects you are managing is technical in nature, I don’t see how you could possibly be hugely successful without having a technical background in the area in question - doesn’t need to be as deep as the SMEs doing the work. A background in agile is a huge benefit. I’d suggest you look at some job reqs on jobs.capitalone.com - might be under the title scrum master vice project manager.

  • Associate - manager - sr manager - director ... not sure about mapping but how many years of experience do you have?

  • Compensation range varies with job family, but generally at director + level, salary, bonus and stock are part of the equation.

    What would total comp look like for Dir and Sr. dir roles based out of Richmond VA? Is the comp structure similar to the tech industry with base + bonus + stock? Or ias it more like the finance industry with base + high bonus and no stock
