Looking to move to PM Role in Microsoft. As I understand a lot of teams don't have product managers but only program manager. What are some good teams for product managers at MS?

Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?

I’d check security, news, bing, Cortana as they’re the only ones right now w true product manager roles focused on strategy, roadmaps etc...
Bing is solid but pretty tops down in terms of strategy. Unless you're GPM (67) or above individual PMs have little autonomy
Most Office teams are reasonably bottoms up.
Azure is moving to more product management. How many teams at Amazon have you tried PM? Why are you leaving? I’m thinking of going the other way.
Product managers in Microsoft are called program managers. That being said, the role itself is very broad and varies a lot by team. Most are more tactical/execution inclined for a feature while some are entirely strategy and vision for developing new concepts. There are others also that are focused in coordination of a given topic across teams like "accessibility" or "privacy".
Off the top of your mind, could you tell me in which of the teams PMs drive the strategy and vision for new concepts?
Hi there, the ones I know are not entire teams but rather some senior/principal PMs in the Office Growth team. Example, one of them drives LinkedIn integration strategies with Office, while another drives creating a new Freemium concept.
Varies a lot by team. Most roles are still program managers focused on execution but increasingly groups are emphasizing product strategy, vision etc. you need to speak to insiders in each group to understand the relative emphasis.
