so given some roles in tech follow nontraditional titles and leveling can be hard to decipher externally, I’m curious how others have considered the pros and cons of clearly listing your level on your resume or LinkedIn. do you think youd be targeted better for roles by recruiters? are you afraid it hurts your offer negotiations? do you wish job postings were more clear about levels for external candidates the way they are often available internally? what other considerations have you thought about? #career #careers
Principal is vague because msft 65 is usually E5 at Google or Facebook, and 66 is usually E6. That said, write none of this. Say software engineer and tell them what you are looking for.
Any recruiter knows the standard titles. They don’t need L63 when Senior would do. All you can do is limit your negotiating power.
